Silk Screen Prints
How to build a...
A1 limited edition silk-screen hand printed on bread & butter paper by Random Boy.
There was this dream where I was marooned on a beach; we could do whatever we wanted, but we didn't because we didn't have the tools to know what we wanted. After waking a few friends with frantic phone calls I realised; no one knows what they want - and if we are marooned - we will need help.
This set of books will get us back up and running again.
This single colour (black) print is a series of 31 with each having a different amount of pressure applied to give each a unique element.
Medicine Cabinet
A1 limited edition silk-screen hand printed on Somerset paper by Random Boy.
Medicine is the science and "art" of maintaining and/or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. The term is derived from the Latin meaning ars medicina the art of healing. (from wikipedia) The piece takes a snapshot of that medicine cabinet. The brutalist architecture of the containers pulled forwards, the vibrating colours jostling for space, are the vials full of promise; or are they the virus they seek to undermine? The two colours are crammed into each other, the violence of the application creating a deep colour that is cut roughly with the naive shapes found in pharmacies around the world.
The print is hand pulled onto a Somerset textured stock with the registration knocked to mirror the unease and the promise that we feel when we need to be fixed; and we find that pharmacy.
This is the first of 12 new works that will be completed bi – monthly for a gallery show in September 2009. Each piece is limited to an edition of 31 prints. It is produced using two colours (red / black) with varying degrees of halftones to create the deep textural finish. The sheet size of the print is 76cm wide x 57cm tall.
Each print is signed and numbered.
